    WALLA WALLA–The statue of Christopher Columbus, which resides on the lawn in front of the Walla Walla County Courthouse, was vandalized with spray paint late in the evening of June 30 or early in the morning of July 1.     GARFIELD COUNTY–An apparent drowning victim was discovered in the Snake River near 21 Wawawai Grade Road on July 3, 2020. The Garfield County Sheriff’s Office was informed Whitman County deployed their marine unit to recover the body. In response, Garfield County Coroner and deputies went to the scene where the coroner confirmed the victim as deceased.     DAYTON–While details of an interlocal agreement (ILA) are being discussed, Columbia County will discontinue providing non-contracted services to the City of Dayton in Law Enforcement, Emergency Management and Dispatch, effective July 1, 2020. During the flood on February 6, Clark and Shannon Simpfendrefer's backyard filled with the Patit Creek and Touchet River covering what once was an enjoyable back yard with a fish pond.
