POMEROY–The Garfield County Transportation Authority (CTA) discussed funding for the 2023–25 biennium at their meeting on June 20. The CTA has received $680,900 from the Washington State Department of Transportation from a consolidated contract that funds the biennium, as well as $153,296 from WSDOT’s PataTransit/Special Needs program. The VFW officers asked Alvin how he would fund this scholarship and he smiled and told them he thought the VFW should have a fireworks stand. POMEROY–The Summer Market kicked off the season with a Farmer Appreciation Day on June 14. The first evening of the Summer Market featured food, baked goods, clothing, live music, produce, and hand-crafted goods. The event saw a steady flow of traffic from the community. POMEROY-The Garfield County board of commissioners (BOCC) signed two contracts at their meeting on June 12. The BOCC signed a contract with the Washington State conservation commission for the Voluntary Stewardship Program. POMEROY–Over a hundred people gathered to celebrate the Pataha Flour Mill's 25 years of operation as a ministry and restaurant on May 20. The celebration began with one of the Mill's well-known meals and ended with a praise gathering, during which many people sang hymns and told memories of the Mill. POMEROY-The Junior and Senior high track and field teams held a joint awards night on June 6. The PHS track team had 13 state medal winners, including Sydney Bales' championship in pole vault and Tyler Slaybaugh's championship in the 100 meter dash.
