One of our favorite pastimes is yelling at the television on Sunday morning. Last Sunday, it was “This Week” with George Stephanopoulos, on ABC. Stephanopoulos stated unequivocally that Mr. Trump and his supporters were feeding people who count themselves as Republicans “a big lie” that the election was stolen, and he tried to get Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) to simply state that the election was, or wasn’t, stolen. Senator Paul wasn’t going to bite. “Why can’t you say President Biden won a legitimate, fair election?” Stephanopoulos as...

To the editor, The decision to fire Walla Walla Columbia County Fire Chief Dist. 2, Michael Moynihan, should be rescinded immediately. It was made secretly in executive session at the Fire Commissioners most recent board meeting. This amounts to character assassination despite the fact that section 5 in Moynihan’s contract states that termination can take place at will, without cause for any reason, and without available grievance procedures. Even he has no explanation as to why he was dismissed. Moynihan knows his position as a Chief and h...

As we know, it was decided that our school would go back to in-person learning at the school. The high school schedule was adjusted to keep kids in school for half of the day, and...

Then came snippets of information about a potentially deadly virus from China, and by March, schools and most businesses were shut down. It was a tumultuous year and one which won’t be soon forgotten. Here we recount the events, week by week, from 2020, continued from t...

By Carolyn Henderson Special to Dayton Chronicle DAYTON–Rock and stone sculpture and carving Sandra Matthew-Sarve is the featured artist at Wenaha Gallery through February 22. We've all heard about the elephant in the room–it's a great metaphor. The sheer absurdity of a two-ton pachyderm lumbering around the kitchen, and nobody noticing, is a visual and mental treat. But there are lots of things we don't notice, whether it's because we don't want to, we're obtusely unobservant, we're foc...
