Another venerable old Pelican, Val Woodworth, flew West the other day. Val was a special person to all who knew him and special to me. He was one of the Touchet Valley’s numerous father-son pairings, a characteristic I’ve been observing for some sixty years of being around here. Sit and think a bit, and you’ll soon think of a long list of men who followed in their father’s footsteps. Dentists, lawyers, publishers, teachers, crop dusters…and farmers, lots of them. Val was a crop duster, ahem…aerial applicator, like his father, Harley Woodworth....

DOR essentially told me it’s proceeding the same way with the capital...

They knew the positive impacts. I’ve always dreamed of a Columbia County filled with brown signs directing locals and visitors to hike, bike, fish, swim, camp, etc. We have so much to offer. How does it benefit our community? Studies show that hav...

The family discovered why the park was empty on such a nice day. As their two children were playing, a swarm of bees attacked. Though the stings were painful and resulted in tears, all eventually recovered from their multiple stings. The Bible teaches that the believer in Christ is attacked by “the flaming arrows of the evil one” Eph. 6:16. Though not bees, the flaming arrows can fly at us when we least expect them.
