    DAYTON–A new feature–a Festival of Trees–will treem up with the traditional lighted parade, fireworks and shopping at the 2019 Dayton Christmas Kickoff, which starts the day after Thanksgiving here in the "Town That Still Believes."     DAYTON–Counting of the final approximately 200 ballots in the November 5, 2019 General Election shows that election-night results stand without significant change in counts. Columbia County Auditor Anne Higgins certified the election this week following a final count on November 20. One of the closer races was for Dayton City Council Position No. 6, held by Byron Kaczmarski and being challenged by Seth Bryan.   • Vehicle rolls on Hartsock Grade

    DAYTON–A converted school bus traveling down Hartsock Grade east of here left the roadway and rolled once, prompting emergency personnel to respond to remove the passenger and driver. Transported to Dayton General Hospital was Troy A. Bird, 47, of Burbank, Wash., and the driver of the 2009 Chevrolet Express, John H. Alberts, 59, also of Burbank.   • Kiwanis Club Turkey Bingo

    Nearly $10,000 in items and prizes–plus dozens of frozen turkeys to make the Thanksgiving holiday even better–were vied for by about 250 local and visiting folks at the Dayton Kiwanis Club's Turkey Bingo, put on last Saturday in conjunction with the Dayton Lions Club and the Frank E.     Unlike Washington, D.C., the scary apparitions of Halloween are nearly a month in the rear-view mirror and the Thanksgiving Holiday is here. We’re reminded of all that we have to be thankful for. This gave students an opportunity to weigh in on the future of the combined sports programs, rather to contract another two years or to go our separate ways. Jerry was born in Spokane, Wash., to Leo Stuhr and Lillian Myrtle (Anderson) Schafer on November 2, 1942. Judd, 43, Dayton, was injured and transported to Providence St. Mary Medical Center when she lost control of the 2006 Buick she was driving at 7:31 a.m. Saturday, November 23, westbound on SR 12 near the Walla Walla airport, and struck the guard rail due to speed being too fast for conditions.     DAYTON–A 32-year-old Dayton man is in custody in Columbia County Jail, charged with two counts of rape of a child and one count of child molestation.
