    DAYTON–Skiers and snowboard riders are undoubtedly rejoicing that the area's ski resort, Bluewood, will open Friday, December 20, announced Kim Clark, General Manager. The area will be open daily from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on the holiday schedule through January 5, 2020, except for Christmas Day, December 25, Clark said.     DAYTON–Six cases of Influenza B, which is highly contagious and can only be passed from human to human, have been confirmed in Columbia County, Public Health Administrator Martha Lanman reported to Commissioners this week. This is based on data from Dayton General Hospital, discussion indicated.     DAYTON–The Dayton School Board, which has functioned for over a year with four directors and one unoccupied seat, has appointed Grant Griffen, a 1999 graduate of Dayton High School, to fill the spot opened when Dan Butler resigned in October, 2018.   • Tri-Cities Steel Band Delights

    A nearly full house enjoyed the Tri-Cities Steel Band's Christmas Concert last weekend at Faith Chapel in Dayton. The group performed its hour-and-a-half show last Saturday and those attending brought food items to donate to the Dayton Community Food Bank, said Pastor Tony Sykes.
