DAYTON–Dayton-Waitsburg Volleyball gave the Homecoming crowd something to cheer about with a five-set, come-from-behind victory over the DeSales Lady Irish Tuesday.
DW is now 2-3 in conference play, tied for fifth place with Lyle/Wishram, and 6-10-1 on the season.
The Lady D-Dubs host Columbia tonight, October 17, in further Homecoming Week play.
The Lady Irish capitalized on unforced errors and mistakes by DW in the first two sets, the first 25-20 and the second, 25-18.
But DW dug deep and came back in the third set with a decisive and momentum-swinging 27-25 victory.
Their winning ways continued as the dejected Lady Irish dropped the fourth set 25-11, setting up a tight 16-14 fifth set win by Dayton-Waitsburg. In the fourth set, Teagan Larsen served 12 straight points to lift the team.
"We started off slow and made lots of unforced errors," commented Head Coach Tara Brenner. "DW found their rhythm and worked through the challenge together as a team. I'm very proud of how our ladies never quit playing and wanted to do their best to keep their momentum."
