DAYTON–A 64-year-old Walla Walla man died Saturday in a single-vehicle accident on Little Goose Dam Road at Riviera Road in Columbia County.
According to the Washington State Patrol, Pedro Ayala Barroso was fatally injured when the 1974 Chevrolet pickup in which he was riding failed to negotiate a curve about 8.2 miles east of SR 261, and struck a rock wall. Ayala Barroso was pronounced dead at the scene.
The State Patrol is investigating the position of Ayala Barroso and another individual involved in the accident, 38-year-old Pedro Raymond Ayala, also of Walla Walla, who was injured but not transported.
The cause of the accident is under investigation, and charges are pending. Use of seat belt restraints is unknown at this time, the State Patrol reported, and drugs or alcohol are believed to be involved.
