DAYTON–The Columbia County Planning Commission has had a vacant position, Seat 1, since last April. At the Columbia County Board of Commissioners (CCBOC) meeting held Monday, December 16, William E. Carter was appointed to fill that vacant position. At the same meeting, Charles Reeves, who is currently Vice-Chair, Seat 5, District No. 3, was re-appointed for another term.
In other areas, for the Affordable Tax Credit (Washington State Substitute Bill 1406), Dena Martin, Associate Planner for Columbia County, reported that a draft ordinance has been prepared. The CCBOC desire to move forward with this, asking for a review of the ordinance by Columbia County Prosecuting Attorney Dale Slack before setting a hearing date.
Martin further reported that the Washington State Office of Financial Management (OFM) has made funds available for outreach and education for the Census. The County needs to apply for funding for the specific outreach methods. Washington State OFM serves as the liaison between the state and the U.S. Census Bureau, acts as an advocate on census-related issues for Washington and facilitates the bureau’s mission of achieving a complete, accurate 2020 census count.
The CCBOC accepted the resignation of Jeff McCann, Chair of the Columbia County Civil Service Commission. A letter of appreciation will be sent to McCann thanking him for his service and dedication.
