DAYTON–Dayton School Directors has begun the search for a superintendent to succeed retiring Supt. Doug Johnson.
The position was posted in December on the Dayton School District website and other educational job resources such as the Educational Service District No. 123’s website.
January 10, 2020 has been set as the deadline for candidates to submit applications.
Following that deadline, administrators under the direction of ESD Superintendent Darcy Weisner will conduct reference screening checks of the candidates.
Interviews with potential finalists are anticipated to be held around January 28-31.
According to the timeline published with the application materials, the Dayton School Board is expected to make a selection no later than February 5, 2020.
The Board discussed a traditional requirement that the superintendent reside within the District and established a guideline that the successful candidate be preferred to reside in Dayton and/or Columbia County, but that residence could be within 40 miles of Dayton School District boundaries.
Compensation will include negotiation of a multi-year contract at a competitive salary dependent upon experience and qualifications.
