Second-half runaway lifts Panthers

DAYTON–The Riverview Panthers came to town and outscored Dayton-Waitsburg 34-19 in the second half to head back downstream with a 59-32 non-conference win here Friday.

Dayton-Waitsburg hosts Liberty Christian this Friday, December 20, on the home maple in the Eastern Washington Athletic Conference season opener, then Kittitas visits on Saturday night for another EWAC counter. DW is 1-4 overall.

Dayton-Waitsburg’s defense had trouble with Riverview’s William Bailey and Trevor Rogers, who paced Panther scoring with 15 and 13 points, respectively. Bailey helped in a second-quarter surge with a three pointer and two field goals.

DW had most of the team in the scoring column with no one player standing out. Mason Finney was team-high scorer with seven and both Wyatt Costello and Tayven Seney scored five, Seney draining a third-quarter trey. Monte Pettichord got a clean look from the arc for a three pointer and his only bucket of the night in the fourth period.
