DAYTON-The 2019-2020 school year is officially half-way over. Students are working hard to get their final assignments in before the semester’s end this Friday. The Dayton-Waitsburg boys and girls basketball players are still fighting through the tough season.
The Dayton-Waitsburg (DW) Basketball teams had a stretch of good games last week. DW played the Walla Walla Valley Academy Knights for the second time of the season in Waitsburg last Thursday. The Boys JV played a C-Team game, and a well-played JV game, as did the boys Varsity team. The Girls Varsity had a very exciting game, which ended in a great victory for the DW ladies. While the Junior Varsity Girls team did not play, they all made the effort to come support their fellow DW athletes and represent their schools. The student section was loud and proud through the eventful varsity games, and led by the Dayton-Waitsburg Cheer squad who performed a new stunt, and great halftime show for the fans in the crowd.
The basketball teams set off to Mabton for an afternoon competition on Saturday. Although DW experienced a loss, the boys Varsity game was extremely eventful, making a gallant effort to rally at the end of the game, but was defeated by a measly three-point spread, 42-45. It was a thrilling game for everyone, from the players to the audience.
