Placing first in Entrepreneurship Speciality Animal Production was Tayve Seney of the Dayton FFA Chapter. Seney raises bison and has learned much about the difference between beef and bison production.
Anna Fortier raises and breeds sheep for sale to 4-H and FFA members to show at local fairs. Nutrition and breeding was among the experience and knowledge Fortier gained as she placed second in the State Level in Entrepreneurship Sheep Production.
Josiah White was first in the State Level in Placement Agricultural Processing, where he learned about processing animals for meat, and gained valuable skills.
DAYTON–Agricultural Proficiency Awards honor FFA members who, through Supervised Agricultural Experiences, have developed specialized skills that they can apply toward their future careers. Dayton FFA had three members place at the State Level with their proficiency applications.
Tayven Seney placed first at the State Level in Entrepreneurship Specialty Animal Production. He raises bison and has learned a lot about the difference between cattle and bison, and the overall needs of raising bison.
Josiah White placed first at the State Level in Placement Agriculture Processing. In this award area, He was recognized for his work with the Valley Meat Ministries in which Josiah gained knowledge and skill in processing animals for meat.
Anna Fortier placed second at the State Level in Entrepreneurship Sheep Production. She raises and breeds sheep for sale to 4-H and FFA members to show at local fairs. She has learned more about the nutrition and breeding of these animals and has also spent time teaching others about sheep production.
Seney and White will receive $200 from the Washington FFA Foundation and their applications will be sent on to compete at the National Level. Fortier will receive $100 from the Washington FFA Foundation.
