Two engines from the Columbia-Walla Walla Railroad were part of the 3rd Street traffic for a few days last week following a mishap in which an engine became derailed on Thursday, December 3. Since the nose of engine 2809 was partially in the northbound lane of 3rd Street, the City of Dayton set up traffic cones and detour signs to warn drivers of the hazard. The engine remaining running through the three-day ordeal, and repairs effected had the locomotives back on track Saturday, according to Port Executive Director Jennie Dickinson.
