DAYTON–Something the pandemic won't stop is the Dayton Chamber of Commerce's Christmas Fireworks Exhibition, planned for this Saturday, December 19.
"People are invited to come downtown to view the fireworks," said Chamber Manager Molly Weatherill-Tate. "We just ask that they maintain physical distancing.
"If you live in neighborhood where you can easily view fireworks, we encourage you to do that so not get too many people downtown," Weatherill-Tate said.
The 10-minute exhibition is sponsored by Pacific Power and is usually one of the features of the Christmas Kick Off, which was canceled this year with some elements of the event held on a limited basis over the past several weeks.
The firworks will be launched from the usual spot on Syndicate Hill and should be easily visible from the downtown area and nearby neighborhoods.
Another feature of the day will be a "Drive By Santa," also sponsored by the Chamber, Weatherill-Tate said. He will start his rounds at around 4:30 p.m. Saturday, and anticipates making it around the circuit a couple times.
The jolly old elf will ride around Dayton neighborhoods in a local vehicle-the sleigh and reindeer are being prepped for the Big Night December 24. Leading Kris Kringle's entourage will be an engine from Columbia County Fire District No. 3.
The Santa Drive By will be dependent on weather.Christmas fireworks Saturday
