DAYTON-After recovering from some time in remote learning, and taking a much-needed winter break, school is up and running once again. Last week on Monday, the district returned to in-person learning. It was discovered two staff members had tested positive for COVID-19, putting four staff members into quarantine. This then led to many students, and some staff questioning whether the upcoming semester would be started in-person, or from home.
As the week went on six staff members were affected overall, and one student tested positive for the virus. Whether this was related to the previous cases is unknown, and no other students were quarantined. The school will continue with their schedule as per-usual, with the exception of substitutes for the affected staff.
In other news, the first semester of the year is quickly coming to an end. As many students are coming to realize, January 20 will be the last day of the quarter, and students have until then, and in some cases sooner to complete any missing assignments they may have. The grades they hold on that date will be their permanent recorded grades for this semester.
While some students have kept up with their grades all year, others find stress in this time while trying to catch up before then. Students also recently received their scores from the PSAT/NMSQT practice test which they took in the fall. The real SAT test will be held at Dayton High School this April, which means for the junior class, they have less than four months to improve their scores.
