WHAT'S NEW AT SCHOOL

Second semester begins

DAYTON-This week at the High School first semester of 2020-21 is finally coming to its end. The final day of 2nd quarter was Wednesday, January 20, and the following day will open up a fresh start for the students. The end of semester has always been a good opportunity for students who are struggling in their classes to have a clean slate, and a second chance at chasing their educational goals. For the seniors, this can be an important milestone for them, as they have just one semester left until they are done with high school, and ready to take on new beginnings.

At the end of the semester, the grades students hold become their permanent grades for the first half of the year. The start of the new semester allows students to refresh, and let go of any academic stress from the first half of the year. Their grades start back at ground zero, giving them the opportunity to refocus themselves, and improve their work.

The new semester also marks the half-way point in the school year. For the seniors this can be bittersweet. Senior year has always been an emotional time for every graduating class, the semester end represents the short time that they have left to wrap up their high school memories. This can be very sad for those seniors, however, hard endings are new beginnings, and this year’s senior class has many good ones to look forward to, and they are sure to make the most of their next six months at Dayton High.
