Trio of businesses burgled this week

DAYTON–Police are investigating burglaries at three downtown Dayton properties over the Monday night-Tuesday morning time period this week.

Burglaries were reported at City Lumber and Coal Yard, 200 N. 3rd Street, AgLink, 207 N. 3rd Street, and Dingle’s of Dayton, 179 E. Main Street, according to Deputy Jeff Jenkins, who with Deputy Cesar Rivera, investigated the incidents.

Investigation indicates that at least one suspect may have hidden inside City Lumber when the business was locked at the end of business Monday. Items believed missing include pocket knives, miscellaneous ammunition and tools. Burglar(s) may have obtained tools within the store to defeat locks and exit the building.

At the AgLink building across 3rd S. 3rd Street, according to investigating officers, was broken into from the alley side. Other than damage to the door, nothing is believed to have been taken.

Burglars gained access to Dingle’s of Dayton by breaking in through an exterior door, police say. Missing were knives, air guns and lighters.

Value of items taken is estimated at less than $500 at each business.

The investigation is continuing.
