New primary care provider

DAYTON–A new Primary Care Provider and Board-Certified Nurse Practitioner Lindsay McLaughlin has joined the Columbia Family Clinic here and is now taking new patients.

Born in Las Cruces, N. M., she grew up in rural New Mexico, running around and having adventures on my grandpa's cattle ranch. She is familiar with the setting of a small rural town. "I've basically wanted to do rural primary care for as long as I can remember," said McLaughlin.

She received her bachelor's degree in biomedical science and a bachelor's degree in nursing from Northern Arizona University. She practiced as a nurse in Arizona and New Mexico for several years, ranging from a progressive care unit to a rural urgent care by the Grand Canyon. She decided to get her Master's degree in nursing with a Family Nurse Practitioner specialty from Chamberlain University almost three years ago which she loves doing very much. "I love being a nurse practitioner, said McLaughlin. "I specialize in primary care across the lifespan, and I enjoy doing dermatological procedures as well."

She is married to her wonderful husband of fifteen years, and together have three beautiful children, aged 10, 8, and 5 which keep her pretty busy! When she is not at work, she enjoys gardening, art, reading, and various home improvement projects.

"I think the most important aspect of primary care, outside of being a competent and safe provider, is to really listen to your patient and be respectful to their wishes," said McLaughlin. "Patients are the most important part of their own healthcare team, and I enjoy educating and empowering people with the tools they need to affect the changes they desire in their life and health. I'm so pleased to be here in Dayton, and I feel very fortunate to be on the Columbia Family Clinic Team. I hope to meet you soon!"

Please help us welcome Lindsay and her family to the community.
