Old-fashioned British spy thriller
The Courier, released in March, 2021, is the true story of an unassuming British businessman Greville Wynne (Benedict Cumberbatch) recruited into one of the greatest international conflicts in history. At the behest of the UK's MI-6 and a CIA operative (Rachel Brosnahan), he forms a covert, dangerous partnership with Soviet officer Oleg Penkovsky (Merab Ninidze) in an effort to provide crucial intelligence needed to prevent a nuclear confrontation and defuse the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Some reviewers have stated that this is an old-fashioned British spy thriller that keeps you engaged. Rotten Tomatoes rates this film with 87% favorable reviews, and an audience score of 95% favorable.
The Courier, rated PG–13, shows on Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m., Sunday at 3 p.m., and Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. There is some violence, partial nudity, brief strong language, and smoking throughout and runs 111 minutes. Masks or cloth face coverings over both your nose and mouth are required, except while eating in your seat, and then put your mask back on. Management is legally required to insist on this and appreciate your cooperation with COVID-19 protocols that will allow the theater to remain open.
