DAYTON–The School District invites school parents, guardians, and community members to a community forum in the High School Library June 3 at 6 p.m. for elementary and 7 p.m. for middle and high school discussion.
This is the first of several forums the district plans to host over the next few months. At the upcoming meeting on June 3, the discussion will focus on areas of concerns including class offerings, discipline, vaping, and substance use.
The most recent school threat has prompted parents to speak out about how the school handles discipline and ask to review policy and implement change. To address this present issue, Superintendent Guy Strot has put into action certain procedures for discipline in the elementary and middle school levels. He has issued the following statement:
“I am aware of the issues presented by the parents,” said Strot. “On discipline, we added some procedures for discipline at the elementary three weeks ago and at the middle school this week. Within the next few weeks, parents will see some additions and changes starting with the new school year that will address these concerns. I will be hosting a series of parent and community get-togethers this summer. I am always available to talk with anyone. This can be during the school day, in the evening, or over the weekend. I would encourage anyone to call the district office, email me at [email protected] or call/text me at 509-530-9373 with any comments, concerns, issues, or questions.
