David William 'Bud' Riggs
April 11, 1957-August 20, 2021
He was born in Anchorage, Ak., into a military family, the oldest of four. He went through his school years in a one-room class in West Virginia, overseas and in Washington state. He joined the Army for a brief time with a medical discharge. He loved all things military.
He lived his life "his" way until he accepted Jesus into his heart in 1980. In 1981, he married Elena and her two young boys. They moved to Tacoma where they expanded their family with the addition of two girls. He worked as a Bar S meat cutter and he rebuilt Ford motors for TAM Engineering.
He returned to the Waitsburg/Dayton area in 1993 where he operated an appliance repair business, a lawn care service and spent the last 25 years as the property manager of Columbia Court Apts.
Since meeting Jesus, he loved to serve in the church in any capacity needed. He loved hearing and preaching the Word of God to whoever would listen. The Lord eased all of his physical pains, taking him home and leaving behind his wife, Elena; children Jeremy, James (Toni), Selena (Andy), Amy and grandchildren Jerico, Corbin, Karson, Melody and Ciara, where his strength and kind heart lives on through his family. He will be laid to rest in the Dayton Cemetery.
His Celebration of Life will be shared on August 28, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Faith Chapel Church, 653 Wagon Road, Dayton, Wash. Potluck to follow.
In lieu of flowers, a Benevolence Fund is set up at Banner Bank under Elena Riggs.
