Puppeteer, a Dayton native, comes to the Liberty Theater

DAYTON–The Touchet Valley Arts Council (TVAC) will present puppeteer, musician, and interdisciplinary artist Dan Luce, to the Liberty Theater October 6-9.

Luce will give a free presentation about his work and worldwide experiences on Wednesday, October 6 at 7 p.m., as well as at an assembly at Dayton Elementary School earlier that afternoon. Reserved seats are required (at the Liberty Theater website under special events, or at the Theater Box Office on Tuesday and Friday 2-5 p.m.) This special event will have full seating with masks required at all times, and no concessions.

Luce and his wife Tracy McFarland will give a concert of original music on Thursday, October 7. The concert performance will be kicked off by special guest Libby Miller of Walla Walla. An admission will be charged. This concert will have full seating with masks required at all times, and no concessions.

He will also lead a workshop on “make and take” a puppet/marionette for adults and children Kindergarten and up on Saturday, October 9 at 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Liberty Theater Annex (enter from the alley behind the theater). This workshop is limited to 20 participants. A material fee will be charged.

Luce is originally from Dayton (a D.H.S. graduate) and is a very talented performer, as well as creator of puppets and marionettes. During his over 25-year career in puppetry, he has regularly collaborated with clients including Disney Studios, Cirque du Soleil, and Blue Man Group. TVAC hopes that Dan’s presentations and workshop will motivate and inspire others interested in the arts in our community, particularly youth and children, to follow their dreams.
