Eagles Arie waiting on reports, insurance

DAYTON–Local members of Dayton Eagles Aerie No. 2618 continue to work inside the water- and smoke-damaged structure at 222 East Main while awaiting resolution of inspections by a realtor adjustor and insurance adjustors, according to Lupe Benavides, Trustee.

Before the Aerie's insurance company will decide on the claim, Benavides said, an inspection by a realtor adjustor was required. That service, when ordered about three months ago, was scheduled solid for 90 days. The inspection occurred September 23, Benavides said, but it may take up to four weeks for the report to be finished and transmitted to the insurance compay.

"We're at a standstill," Benavides said. In the meantime, Benavides is concerned about ensuring that Eagles and Eagles Auxiliary members are fully informed of the process and the current state of affairs. He urges any Eagles member with questions or concerns to call him at 509-520-8596. The Aerie continues to hold regular meetings at Eagle Manor's meeting room, every second and fourth Wednesday at 7 p.m.

"When we get an answer on the insurance claim, then we'll see what we can do with the funds we receive," Benavides said.

Meanwhile, Eagles officials have been seeking contractors to reduce the back wall to a three-foot height and for potential contractors to be ready to begin building a roof when the insurance payout is received.
