Oakesdale rides big second quarter to win

WAITSBURG–Outscoring the Dayton-Waitsburg Wolfpack 15-2 in the second period was the difference for the Oakesdale Nighthawks here Dec. 7 as they came away with a 38-29 non-conference win prior to DW taking a two-game covid postponement last weekend.

The Wolfpack hosts Colfax tonight in Waitsburg and travels to Burbank to play the Coyotes Saturday. The Christmas Break will intervene with a possible makeup game at the Granger Christmas Tournament on Dec. 27-28. Watch the Chronicle for further details.

Oakesdale slipped ahead 7-4 after the first quarter then the lid slammed on DW's rim as the second quarter was a lopsided 15-2 difference, giving the Nighthawks a 22-6 lead at half time.

The Wolfpack outscored Oakesdale 12-7 in the third and 11-9 in the fourth, but the differences were not enough to overcome the damage done in the second quarter.

Monte Pettichord topped DW scorers with a double double, 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Wyaitt Booth and Dylan Bledsoe both snagged 8 rebounds and Blake French got six.
