WAITSBURG–The Colfax Lady Bulldogs whirred and clicked, counting a dozen baskets and a trio of three pointers in the first quarter to blister the Lady Wolfpack 33-2 and sail to a 63-10 win here Thursday, December 16.
The Columbia-Burbank Lady Jaguars overwhelmed DW 59-5 there on Dec. 18, heading into the holiday break with a 0-6 record. DW plays the Lady Vikings of Garfield-Palouse Tuesday, Jan. 4, at Dayton's gym.
Grace Trump, DW's 5-3 sophomore, hit a bucket late in the first quarter to prevent a shut out as the Lady Bulldogs' defense was effective at keeping the Wolfpack offense on its heels.
In the second quarter, the Lady Wolfpack were getting some looks at the hoop, but nothing was dropping. Alyssa Hollingsworth put up three, Kameryn Tupling and Teagen Culley both lofted a pair of shots, but the team's scoring was a single free throw by Megan Forney. Colfax took their foot of the gas and scored six to hold a 39-3 lead at half time.
Forney popped in a bucket and later split a pair of free throws, and Sagelyn Kilts went inside for two for DW's five points in the third quarter, which ended with Colfax leading 54-8.
The fourth quarter was 9-2 for Colfax, Forney hitting a pair of gifters for DW's sole points.
