When two young brothers shared a treat given to them by their parents, one of them would offer, “I’ll cut and you pick”. But after cutting the pieces (and not in the middle) he would grab the larger portion and gulp it down, taking advantage of his trusting brother.
One of the blessings of believing in Christ is He is our portion which cannot be taken away. Though others may take advantage of us and cut us out of what should be ours, we cannot be cut out of the overflowing loving kindness He offers our hearts. We experience the fulfillment of the scripture, “I’m my Beloved’s and He is Mine”.
As Martha complained about her sister listening at Jesus’s feet and not helping with the meal, He responded “Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken from her” Lk. 10:42. We experience continually that “The Lord is my portion”.
The deep abiding love He has for us is without measure. His satisfying goodness that calms our heart knows no bounds and is ours.
Our prayers aren’t cold “wish lists”. They are an “entering into” the sharing of His life and being filled with the Holy Spirit as we make our needs and struggles known to Him. He is our measure, our portion, our satisfaction, and our victory!
God Bless You.
