Weinhard Cafe reopens

DAYTON–The Weinhard Café reopened with a themed dinner on January 14–15.

The weekend of January 14-15, the Cafe opened with its first themed dinner both Friday and Saturday, featuring a French Cuisine of an appetizer charcuterie board, salad, a choice of roasted chicken or salmon. The take-out dinners can be ordered for pick up on Fridays and Saturdays and is enough to feed two to three people.

Chef Daniel Rossi and partner Vicki Sternfeld-Rossi bought the Weinhard Cafe last April after it was closed for a few months under the ownership of Mandy Wendt, who had owned the café since 2014.

Opening a business during COVID times has presented unique challenges. One faced by most businesses is staffing. Chef Daniel said the restaurant was busier than they could handle with little or no staff besides himself and Vicki. The break over the holidays allowed them to catch their breath before launching the concept of offering reserved themed weekend dinners and weekend take-out meals.

Chef Rossi brings a wealth of culinary expertise to Dayton having been an executive chef in Los Angeles, New York and Tokyo, as well as an instructor at the Culinary Arts Institute and at La Cordon Bleu.

Rossi said they had ten reserved for Friday and were also prepared for walk-in guests. Each week will have a different take-out and themed dinner offering.
