The Wastewater Treatment facility upgrade has been in the works by the city when it became evident the existing facility was in adequate in 2007. It was voted down when it was brought to the City Council on April 12, 2022. The original plan proposed the purchase of two parcels of land west of the current treatment plant on the northwest edge of Dayton along the Touchet River. City officials acknowledged the rejection for the land purchase presents a setback in the upgrade plans and the ability to meet requirements avoiding being fined by the state.
