Pastor's Corner

Our stationary exercise bicycle has been very beneficial. It provided a way of therapy in the recovery of two knee replacement surgeries and on rainy days it is available to give needed exercise. Yet there’s one thing it doesn’t do. It doesn’t take me anywhere.

For all the effort put into peddling it, I’m always in the same place when I’m done as when I started. Yet that isn’t necessarily true. Because of the exercise my lungs are in a better place, my pumping heart is in a better place, and my circulation is improved. The same thing is true of the things we endure that test our faith in the Lord.

It may seem we aren’t getting any place and there is no visible improvement. Though we continue to trust and pray, certain hardships may be unresolved and progress may seem stagnant. Yet if we are trusting the Lord, He is taking us somewhere! Our “inner being” is becoming more patient. Our endurance is expanding. Our commitment to Him is deepening. Our hearts are becoming more tender. The Lord is taking us to new and exciting places in Him!

Being faithful in the trial of our faith is bringing praise and glory to the Lord and deepening our daily experience of Him.
