DAYTON–In the front-page news article in the August 4, 2022, edition of the Dayton Chronicle, “CFO submits resignation to Hospital Commission,” it stated “Chief Financial Officer Matt Minor has given notice to go work for the ‘private sector’ as the potential childcare project ramps up.”
“The statement was based on a discussion heard during the monthly board meeting and listened to later from a recording,” according to Dayton Chronicle Reporter Melissa Gemmell, who attended the meeting virtually. “No last name or title was provided, and no other Matt was ever specified at the time of that particular discussion. Only Matt Minor was specified in a previous conversation a few minutes prior on the general and typical fluctuations of hospital finance, and therefore an error of assumption was made.”
In an email discussion with Columbia County Health System Chief Executive Officer Shane McGuire, it was clarified that what was conveyed was from the discussion “of the Department of Health (DOH) Construction Review Services (CSR) transition from Matt Campbell to Kevin Scarlett,” McGuire wrote to the Chronicle. “DOH, CRS is a required process for any construction project that occurs on campus. [Matt] Campbell has worked with [us] on several of [our] recent construction projects and was the reviewer for the initial childcare process.”
As a result, Columbia County Hospital System CFO Matt Minor was mistakenly identified as the person resigning his current position. The Dayton Chronicle regrets the error.
