Dayton's The Club was presented a U.S. flag and stand by members of American Legion Frank E. Bauers Post No. 42 this week. Commander Charles Amerein shook hands with The Club Executive Director Jim Pearson in making the presentation, noting that "one of the pillars of the American Legion is to promote Americanism," said Amerein, "which was the 1920s way of saying 'patriotism.' It gives us great pleasure to be able to provide the children of Columbia County with the opportunity to honor the flag which so many of our comrades sweated, bled and died for. We hope that it will serve as a reminder of the opportunities they are afforded by living in this great country."
