Coroner's Inquest sought in June shooting death

DAYTON–Scheduling of a coroner’s inquest for Jason W. Bomar, 22, of Walla Walla, is being considered in connection with the June 20, 2022, shooting death of Christopher Gonzales, 54, of Walla Walla, at 118 E. Washington Avenue.

The logistics of scheduling an available coroner, the courtroom and summoning a jury are complicated by the re-trial of Benjamin Orozco in late September, according the C. Dale Slack, Columbia County Prosecuting Attorney.

Bomar was released from custody July 1 while the investigation into the incident continues.
