Salmon barbecue returns after two-year hiatus

WAITSBURG–A decades-long fall tradition here is the annual Salmon Barbecue, which takes place at 6 p.m. Saturday, September 24 at the Don Thomas Building at the Fairgrounds. The barbecue was canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic.

The event is a fundraiser for the Waitsburg Lions Club and includes salmon barbecued over an open fire, baked potato, baked beans, homemade cole slaw and bread. Tickets are $35 per person and beverages will be available for purchase at the event.

Tickets for persons 21 and over are available at Pioneer West and Northwest Grain Growers in Dayton, Waitsburg Grocery and Banner Bank in Waitsburg, and in Walla Walla at Papé Machinery and the office of Dr. Randy Pearson. Online sales are through Eventbrite.com.
