Mass Casualty Drill conducted

The Columbia County Sheriff's Department, Columbia County Health System, Fire District No. 3 and other agencies conducted a mass-casualty drill last Friday, beginning with a simulation of an active shooter at the Fairgrounds, deployment of police and ambulance, and eventual transport of "injured" subjects to the emergency room entrance at Dayton General Hospital. Deputy Payden Teel attended to one of the victims at the Fairgrounds grand stands, communicating with fellow officers and dispatch. Below, personnel at the Dayton General Hospital Emergency Department, including Dr. Lewis Neace, right, assess an agitated incoming patient who arrived by ambulance. At bottom, simulated injured people are moved toward the Emergency Room entrance during the exercise.
