Carolyn Jean Taylor

September 8 1932–November 2 2022

Carolyn Taylor worked her way up through the ranks and was one of the first three female civilians to reach a G16. Against all odds for a woman at the time, she broke through the glass ceiling. She worked for the DOD at the Pentagon. Some of her notable projects included development of a new technology called “GPS”, she helped apply it for military use. She was sent to Cape Canaveral to represent the Air force for projects relating to the space shuttle. She put together a committee that saved the A10 Warthog program and was recognized by pilots and colonels for her work. She was a true genius, this morning, November 2, 2022, she passed peacefully in her home at the age of 90.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband Harold Taylor, her son Michael Taylor, brother Tom Burgess and both parents.

She is survived by five of her six children John Taylor (Deb), Ann Nelms (Adrian), Zee Sumlin (Kevin), Katy O Donnell (Mike), Jackie Taylor; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

At her request there will not be any service. Corbeill Funeral Home in Dayton is assisting the family.
