On Stage at the Liberty Theater

"The Sound of Music" opened on the Liberty Theater stage last week to a full and appreciative house who enjoyed the performance, including this scene where the Von Trapp children learn about "tea, a drink with jam and bread" from their new governess, Maria, played by Janine Wheeler. Tony Sykes plays the lead role of Captain Von Trapp and a plethora of community actors fill roles in the well-known production. Pictured are Gretl-Rae Howard, Marta-Janie Howard, Brigitta-Cindi Howard, Kurt-Carter Barron, Friedrich-Casey Collins, Lousia-Natalie Knudson, Liesl-Makenna Barron, and Maria-Janine Wheeler.

Makenna Barron is the a leading role as Liesl Von Trapp.

The marionette scene is cleverly done with "live" marionettes.

Captain Von Trapp, played by Tony Sykes and Elsa Schraeder, played by Jae Goodridge, right, receive-not too well-a "Heil Hitler" from Rolf, played by Isaiah Velazquez.

Maria (Janine Wheeler) is inspired by Mother Abess (Sarah Thomson) as she performs "Climb Ev'ry Mountain."

Todd Vandenbark played the irrepressible Max Detweiler, who recruits the Von Trapp family to sing publicly for the first time.
