DAYTON–For the forty-fourth year, the Dayton Chronicle has promoted local shopping during the Christmas holidays with its Christmas Shopping Spree promotion, which started in late November and wrapped up just before Christmas. In keeping with the economic times, this year the Chronicle increased the kitty, setting $300 for first price, $150 for second prize and $75 for third prize.
Darci Hays was the Grand Prize Winner, taking home $300 in Shopping Spree Scrip, coupons in $10 denominations which may be redeemed for goods or services at eighteen local business establishments.
Hays was genuinely surprised when informed of her good luck. "What?" she exclaimed. "I won what?" To make it even more amazing, Hays remembers filling out just a single entry form this year.
Vick Davis of Dayton was the happy winner of second price and $150 in Shopping Spree Scrip, and Julia Mead, Dayton, won third prize and $75 in scrip.
Businesses which participated in 2022 included Christy's Realty, My Dad's Place, Dayton Mercantile, V A Tires, Dingle's of Dayton, Gravis Law, Dayton Auto Repair, Locally Nourished, Fiesta En Jalisco, Elk Drug, City Lumber, Paige's Floral & Gifts, State Farm-Avren Childers Agency, Annie' Attic Café, Clef Hangers Music Studio-Charlotte Baker, Pioneer West, Table Rock Meat Company and the Dayton Chronicle.
