What's New at School?

DAYTON–The local National Honors Society (NHS) members will be reading to younger kids every school day of February in the Elementary Library from 7:50-8:10 a.m. The NHS members voted on doing this community service project to not only entertain kids but as well as allow them to come inside on a cold day.

Dayton FFA presented at the Columbia Conservation District meeting this week about how the first Semester went. The first semester consisted of Wreath Sales, Concessions, Potato Evaluation, Tractor Driving, Soils Evaluation, Apple Evaluation, Chapter Officer Training and Day of Service Hygiene Drive.

The FFA members and officers are actively planning all spring events and practicing for competitions. FFA Members will be competing in a Job Interview on January 25 in Oakesdale. The individuals competing in this event had to prepare a resume and will be going through an interviewing process. Dayton FFA Chapter Officers are finalizing plans for National FFA Week on February 18-24. There will be a Trap Shoot in St. John on February 25.

The Pep-Band has been playing during the DW Wolfpack High School Basketball games. The Pep-Band has been coordinating with the DW Wolfpack cheerleaders to plan half-time performances and performing both of the fight songs from Dayton High School (DHS) and Waitsburg High School. The Dayton Middle School-High School Pep-Band members have been focusing on planning a fundraiser to earn money for their annual summer Silverwood trip.

The combined High School Wolfpack has a “Safari” themed home game on January 24 in Dayton against Liberty Christian. Boys Junior Varsity (JV) will be playing at 3:30 p.m. Varsity Girls will playat 5 p.m. Varsity Boys will be playing at 6 p.m. DW Wolfpack High School Basketball “Jersey” themed Senior Night will be in Dayton on February 2 against Walla Walla Valley Academy.
