Sadie Hawkins and 100th Year Anniversary of Pietrzycki

DAYTON–Sadie Hawkins, “Hippies in the ’60s” themed dance took place on Friday, February 17 at the Columbia County Fairgrounds Youth Building. The morning of the dance, it was announced that the dance was canceled due to miscommunication throughout the administration. The last-minute decision upset many students especially the Sophomore Class because they were the ones planning it.

Shortly after the announcement, Sophomore, Brooklyn Laughery and Junior Wyntr McCauley, tried to find ways to save the dance. After resolving the issue, it was decided that Sadie Hawkins would be a non-school affiliated dance run by the Sophomore Class parents and admission would be by donation. Many students from both Waitsburg and Dayton High School were able to enjoy the dance. It was a fun experience for these students and it was a successful night.

The Senior Class of 2023 will have a Beef Jerky Fundraiser through Tillamook Country Smoker (TCS) Meats during the last three weeks of March. The funding from this fundraiser will go towards this year’s Senior Trip. With past successful jerky fundraisers, this is a great way to earn funds for a trip. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Warren at DHS or any of the 2023 Senior Class Students.

On April 20, 1923, a cornerstone was laid on the Pietrzycki High School, what we now call Dayton High School. This year on April 20, 2023, it will be the 100th Anniversary of Pietrzycki High School. The Celebration Committee is actively planning for an event and working out details at meetings. There will be an on-campus celebration that will include games, drama class, food, music, history, and an evening open house on April 20 at 12:45-2:45 p.m.
