Carol Ann Goddard, Dayton resident, passed away March 16, 2023 at the Rivers Walk Assisted Living in Dayton. She was 76.
Carol was born December 22, 1946 in Bremerton, Washington to Kay and Leona Woeshnik Thompson. She grew up in Belfair where she completed high school. Carol attended Olympic College in Bremerton and it was while there that she met Thomas Goddard also of Bremerton. They married July 30, 1966 in Bremerton. They made their home in Burien, Wash., for a few years. Tom worked at Boeing and Carol was working in Seattle as a secretary for an insurance agency. They became parents to their daughter Tammie.
They moved to Federal Way, Washington and as the years went by; Carol took classes to become a licensed insurance agent. She worked for SafeCo Insurance Company in personal lines insurance and later went on to become a very successful commercial lines agent for the company. She worked primarily in their Bellevue office.
Tom and Carol enjoyed motorcycle riding, camping, and fishing. They spent many winter months in Arizona over the years and thoroughly enjoyed that time. Carol retired for health reasons in 1982 when MS didn’t allow her to work as much anymore.
It was in 1992 that the Goddard’s found Dayton while searching for a place to settle following Tom’s upcoming retirement. They started moving a little bit at a time, enjoying weekends in Dayton and getting used to the community. He retired fully in 1997 and they have lived in Dayton since.
Carol is survived by her husband Tom at their Dayton home; her daughter Tammie Elliott of Burien; 3 grandchildren and 3 step-grandchildren; and by her sister, Johanna Cates of Belfair.
