What's New at School?

DAYTON– Tedx Youth Motivational Speaker Lamarr Womble came to the Dayton High School (DHS) Media Center; the National Hoors Society Chapter preparing for egg hunt; and the winter sports banquet occurred earlier this week.

Tedx Youth Motivational Speaker Lamarr Womble visited the DHS Media Center on Tuesday, March 14. The focus he spoke on to all classes throughout the day was passion and leadership. Lamar connected with the students through games and tasks based on the topic of passion. During this time, he led a game, and a teamwork activity, and passed out "Passion Workbooks" for DHS students to work on. Many of the students enjoyed his time speaking and working with him.

The National Honors Society Chapter members and new inductees have started the Easter Egg service project for the upcoming egg hunt April 8 at the City Park. Kiwanis provides candy each year for the Honor Society to stuff inside 3,000 colorful plastic eggs. This tradition has been gleefully done for over 20 years. The honor society members spend their time during school hours working on this project.

The Winter Sports Dessert Banquet was held in the DHS Auditorium last Monday, March 20 at 7 p.m. This banquet was to recognize individuals and team members for their accomplishments during the season. Awards, varsity letters, pins, plaques, and coach awards were handed to the Dayton-Waitsburg (DW) Wolfpack Girls' Varsity Basketball team, Boys' JV Basketball team, Boys' Varsity Basketball team, and Cheerleaders. Everyone worked hard to make lasting memories to last a lifetime during their last year as a combined team for winter sports.
