Carroll Lee Carter
June 17, 1947–March 28, 2023
Carroll Lee (Dycus) Carter, 75, a resident of Dayton, Wash. passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 with her husband (Paul) at her side.
Carroll, the eldest of seven children to Robert Carroll Dycus and Mary Lucille (Thomas) Dycus, was born Salt Lake City, Utah, June 17, 1947. She graduated (1965) from Gavit High School in Hammond, Ind. She continued her education to earn a BA degree in Library Science (1971) at Purdue University (West Lafayette, Ind.). She met her husband Paul while at Purdue University and they were later married June 16, 1973 at the Carter family farm (Orleans, Ind.).
Carroll used her library training as a school librarian. Later as a homemaker, she volunteered at the local library. Carroll was known for her skills in sewing, canning, and baking, where she could rarely leave a recipe unmodified to suit her liking. She loved animals of all kinds (especially dogs) and birdwatching. An avid reader, she could often be found lost in the pages of a good book. She explored hobbies and crafts, such as bead and glass jewelry making, quilt and craft shows, shopping, and enjoying a lunch out with friends.
Carroll is survived by her husband Paul, daughters Sarah (husband Chris) and Amy (husband James). She is also survived by three sisters and two brothers, mother-in-law Fern Carter, brother-in-law Ben Carter (wife Dixie), and nieces and nephews.
