Your Hometown News Source
DAYTON–The Dayton Chronicle, the 146-year-old historical Columbia County community newspaper, will expand coverage area, information, and readership with bordering Garfield County, highlighting common interest articles, sports, events and advertising, in the upcoming May 18, 2023 edition.
The Dayton Chronicle has finally seen the light, that the two relatively close communities of Dayton and Pomeroy share more than geographical commonalities and family connections. We share organizations, events, farming, livestock, the rugged Blue Mountains, the beautiful Tucannon River drainage, Columbia Pulp, the Snake River, a plethora of outdoor recreation, a State Senator and two State Representatives. Not only that, Dayton will once again compete in 1B sports beginning this fall, making the athletes from both school districts competitors, as well as partners in education.
What you will observe in coming editions are additional relatable news, community events, a greater advertising demographic, more classified ad opportunity, public notices, and celebration opportunities in both communities.
There will be no change to the Dayton Chronicle office at 163 East Main Street. The printed newspaper will mail out of the Dayton Post Office as usual, and will continue to maintain the newspaper of record status for Columbia County and the Town of Starbuck. The Chronicle’s online website at daytonchronicle.com will contain all the elements of the printed version, plus more.
Our support of community events, organizations, schools, public offices, local medical facilities, businesses, and friendships will continue to grow. We hope you enjoy the new look and coverage of the Dayton Chronicle.
