What's New at School?

DAYTON–The Columbia County Fair took place on September 8-11. Many local FFA members took their projects to the fair this year.

Graci Turner took her heifer to the fair and received Grand Champion FFA Record Book. Anthony Jonas entered his lamb to the fair this year. He was awarded with the Grand Champion FFA Market Lamb and Grand Champion FFA Lamb Showman. Gloree Grace took a pig to the fair and received blue ribbons for both the Market and Fitting & Showing classes. Raymond Yutzy exhibited his goat at the fair and earned blue ribbons for both the Market and Fitting & Showing classes.

These exhibitors have been working hard all year on their Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) projects and have successfully presented and sold them at fair this year.

In addition, the Dayton FFA prepared and volunteered serving free fair breakfast by donation on September 11. The food was all prepared by members of the Dayton FFA. These members spent their last morning at Columbia County Fair serving their community.

Dayton High School (DHS) Associated Student Body (ASB) decided to take on the project of coming up with "Themed Home Games" for all sports seasons. This idea is meant to help rebuild our sports program and school spirit. Dayton FFA will have concessions for each home Football game this year.

The next USA themed home Football game against St. John/Endicott/Lacrossez will take place on Friday, September 29 at 7 p.m.

The next College themed home Volleyball game will take place on Thursday, September 23 against Columbia Burbank. Junior Varisty (JV) plays at 5 p.m., and Varisty starts playing following the JV match at 6 p.m..
