Pastor's Corner

Strange things happen with the telephone. Years ago, I hung up the phone after a visit with one of our church ladies. Later, when I went to make a call, I heard distant voices (which I recognized) on the other end, seemingly visiting together. It took a moment for me to realize that the call I'd made earlier was still connected. I spoke loudly into the phone repeatedly to ask them to properly hang up their phone (so I could make a call) but they couldn't hear me. The experience was a blessing.

As they ignored my cries, I heard the family members (old and young alike) laughing and having fun in a joyful and loving manner. Eventually the phone problem was resolved and I confessed my innocent eavesdropping. But I carried with me the delight of hearing such a loving and happy family. That is what home should be like.

Jesus Christ promised that if we trust Him and obey His Word, He and His Father would love us, come in, and make their home in us. John 15:23

A booklet entitled "My Heart, Christ's Home" highlights the manner in which the Lord wants to make every part of our life His home. The booklet speaks of the "living room (where He wants to meet with us daily), study room (what we read and expose ourselves to), hall closet (where we keep our most hidden secrets), workroom (doing all we do to His glory) and rec room" (our joys and interests) as parts of our heart Jesus wants to clean up and live in. He has a perfect view of the condition of our heart and every part of our life.

We need to be honest with Him. He will forgive all our sins, clean up the house, fill each room, and enjoy us completely!
