GPA qualifies team members for award

DAYTON–Fall Sports is in full swing at Dayton High School, and the athlete's goals are to keep their grades up to be eligible to play, cheer in games, and receive a WIAA award.

The Athletic Director, Sam Korslund, asked about the Fall Sports athlete's current GPAs. He then used this information to calculate each team's average. High School Football has an average GPA of 3.311. High School Volleyball has an average GPA of 3.452. High School Fall Cheer has an average GPA of 3.497.

These average scores qualify the three teams for a WIAA Distinguished Team Award based on GPA. If these athletes work individually to keep their grades up, they can become eligible for an academic award that will be calculated toward the beginning of the Winter Sports Season.
