Robert Terry Laughery

Robert Terry "Doc" Laughery, 83, died on October 21, 2023, doing what he loved, hunting. He was born in Dayton, Wash. His parents died young, he was raised by his uncle and aunt, Delbert and Genevia Laughery. He was always grateful for family, friends, and the community of Dayton for their support.
After graduating from Dayton High School and Central Washington University, he taught school for two years. While at Central, he met and married his wife of 61 years, Janet Paisley. In 1970, he graduated from WSU College of Veterinary Medicine.
Terry started his veterinary career in Eugene, Ore., where their son, Kyle was born. Their daughter Melissa was born in 1974 in Boise, Idaho where Terry established his first veterinary clinic.
His clinic in Boise and later in Everett, Wash., became a frequent coffee shop for his many friends and shared his passion for dog training, field trialing, archery, bird hunting, and skeet shooting.
In 1980 the family moved to Yakima, Wash. He loved being involved in family activities, hunting and shooting skeet. He was always an optimistic WSU football fan.
He was preceded in death by his sister Paula Pederson. He is survived by his wife Janet Laughery; son Kyle Laughery and granddaughter Kinsey Laughery of Yakima; daughter Melissa Laughery and granddaughter Zoe Laughery of Saratoga, Calif; sister Metha Schuler of Petaluma, Calif; brother Scott (Nancy) Laughery of Tucson, Ariz., and faithful dog, Ruby.
A celebration of life will be held at Rainier Memorial Center, 2807 Terrace Heights Drive Yakima, Wash., on Saturday November 18, 2023 at 1 p.m.
