We reap what we sow
Years ago, Paul Harvey reported the story of a road grader operator who became aware that a nearby ambulance wouldn’t get the critical accident victim to the hospital in time. Taking matters into his own hands he plowed through a fence row and made a road that cut off the time and distance to the hospital. It was later he learned that the patient he helped save was his own daughter. The Bible teaches we “reap what we sow.”
In such a personal way, the road grader operator reaped the benefits of what he had sown. The same is true of investing ourselves in evil. Even as those who do good (to the glory of God) can expect a harvest of goodness, those who sow evil will reap a harvest of decay and death.
“Those who live to only satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature” (NLT, Ga. 6:8)
God’s child “sows to please the Spirit” Ga. 6:8.
When we give our life to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, His life and goodness take residence within us in the Spirit. We sow good in the lives of those around us because we love Him and them.
