The gift of a kidney donor is wish for Dayton's Lisa Naylor

DAYTON–A fervent Christmas Wish for Dayton's Lisa Naylor is to be matched with a suitable donor for a kidney transplant.

To help get the word out, friends of Naylor recently posted a larger-than-life poster along Highway 12 on the side of Joanne and Carol Poolman's barn. Highway travelers going east bound

Naylor suffers from End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) and is undergoing utilizing Continuous Cycling Peritoneal Dialysis, a process which uses a machine to exchange up to nine liters of fluid at night while she sleeps, a much more desirable process, she says. She started using this process November 22

"I plug in at bedtime, and finish my treatment with the whole day unencumbered by the need to exchange fluids every four hours," Naylor said. "The machine leaves 500 mL in me during the day."

In late October, she had started Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD), which Naylor says was a more manageable way to filter the waste products from her bloodstream than traditional dialysis.

"I feel much better, my energy is up," Naylor says of the CCPD process she's now using. "I'm just working to find that kidney, and looking forward to moving the Dayton Parks & Rec Pool project forward."

Naylor is Type O and is in search of a suitable donor.

She is eligible to apply for Medicare because of her diagnosis, and Medicare will pay the full cost of care for the kidney donor. "I don't have to pay a deductible, coinsurance, or other costs for my donor's hospital stay," Naylor says. "Also, my kidney donor doesn't have to pay a deductible, coinsurance, or any other costs for their hospital stay."
